A major content management system (CMS) upgrade, content migration and design refresh for Cumbria-based employability specialists, Inspira.
Project Overview
Our relationship with Inspira goes back to 2021. At that time, they needed to move away from a restrictive and costly hosted website system and into something more flexible and scalable. We introduced them to Craft CMS, a powerful content management system known for its adaptable content structure and user-friendly publishing benefits.
The initial migration retained the existing design and content structure, but opened a wealth of potential for future changes and ongoing improvements.
The release of a major upgrade for Craft CMS and a need to modernise certain content structures created an opportunity to refresh the site design as part of a single project that started in early 2025.

Our Approach
We started the project by taking a fresh look at the overall site structure. Working alongside the marketing team at Inspira we built a new site map and content model taking into account their range of diverse audiences. The new content model allowed us to review the different types and formats of content, the content fields to support it and how it could be dynamically linked to other content across the site.
The refreshed content structure helps visitors navigate to content relevant to their needs, making user journeys more efficient and logical, whether they’re an apprentice, a person returning to the workplace or someone preparing for an interview.

Planning and Design
Design played an important role too. We created wireframes and detailed mockups in Figma, helping to visualise how the refreshed structure and branding would come to life on screen. Once the designs were agreed, we coded new page templates and integrated them into the CMS.

Making it easy to find relevant information
One particular highlight was improving how toolkits were handled on the site.
The toolkits are themed collections of advice and resources and include guides for different audiences at each stage of their career journey. Topics include returning to work, apprenticeships and preparing for interviews.
In the previous site, the content behind these toolkits was more fragmented. By consolidating these resources into standalone items that could also be grouped together dynamically, Inspira have flexibility in how they create, manage and share these toolkits with their different audiences.

Completing the Content Migration
Of course, no migration is without its challenges, especially when changing content formats and moving entries around the site. This required careful planning to ensure there were no broken links that could impact existing search engine rankings.
A detailed content audit completed by Inspira at the start of the project made this stage of the project easier, so we could focus on the most valuable content that would drive traffic to the site and introduce people to Inspira's services.
