How I Use AI in My Everyday Life (and Why It's Basically My Digital Bestie)

I never thought I’d say this, but AI has surprisingly become a helpful part of my daily routine. It’s like that friend who always has an answer, never judges, and is available all the time. Whether I’m worried about my cat acting strangely, searching for the perfect foundation shade, or just looking for quick reassurance about a health concern, AI is there.

These days, I use it as a smarter version of Google. Instead of clicking through multiple tabs and getting conflicting advice, I get clear, direct answers that actually make sense.

Here’s how I use AI in everyday life, not the sci-fi fantasy, but the real, slightly chaotic version.

Cat Chaos? Ask AI

Living with a very dramatic cat means there’s always something puzzling happening. One minute he’s cuddly and sweet, the next he’s attacking my ankles on the stairs. I asked AI if this was normal, and it explained this is usually playful behavior but could also mean he’s bored and needs more stimulation. It even gave me a list of resources and calming techniques, which really helped both of us.

When my mum’s cat started spraying and howling until she fed him, I turned to AI again. I wasn’t sure if this was typical cat behavior or a sign of something more serious. AI broke down the possible causes and gave us practical things to try. With cats, it’s hard to tell what’s “normal,” so having calm, helpful advice made everything less stressful.

Even when my friend’s cat fell into gloss paint (yes, really), I used AI to figure out how to handle it safely and whether we needed to go to the vet. Spoiler: we did.

Beauty Routine, Powered by AI

Skincare and makeup can be overwhelming, and I’m tired of wasting money on products that don’t work. When I needed a cleanser that actually worked for my skin, I asked AI. It pointed out which ingredients to look for based on my skin type and even recommended some popular favourites.

I’ve also used it to find the right toner to keep my bleached ends icy. After a friend helped me balayage my hair, I didn’t want to damage it further, and AI helped me find something gentle that worked.

And don’t even get me started on foundations. I’ve asked AI to help me find natural-looking formulas, match my shade across different brands, and even choose a birthday perfume for a friend—something similar to Black Opium but a bit more unique.

Health & Hygiene Questions, No Judgment

Sometimes you just need quick answers, like, “Can I get emergency antibiotics from 111?” or “What’s considered high blood pressure for someone with COPD?” I even used AI when I wasn’t sure whether an elderly friend needed an ambulance. I couldn’t confidently read their SATs monitor, but after uploading a photo, AI immediately said it was an emergency and that I should call 999. So I did.

It’s not a replacement for a doctor, but with the right context, like symptoms or existing conditions, it gives a clearer picture and helps you feel less overwhelmed when something feels off.

Random Life Stuff I Didn’t Know I Needed Help With

Some questions are just random. Like why my neighbor two streets over gets same-day Amazon delivery and I don’t. AI gave me a few possible reasons, and after checking my settings, I actually fixed the issue.

When it comes to writing birthday messages, my brain sometimes goes blank. I’ve asked AI for help, and even when the response isn’t perfect, it gives me a good starting point, which is honestly all I need sometimes.

It’s also helped me figure out my cat’s breed. He was rescued from a friend who couldn’t keep him, and before that, he was a street cat. I didn’t know anything about him. But after sending a few photos, AI gave me a solid idea of his breed and personality, which has helped me care for him better.

And yes, I’ve used AI to edit photos, too. Not to change how someone looks, just to remove a random person lurking in the background of a picture I actually liked. It did a great job, and I was thrilled with the result.

Why I Actually Love It

AI has become my go-to digital sidekick—helpful, judgment-free, and always available. It’s not here to replace people or professionals, but it definitely makes life smoother. It answers the awkward questions I’d never ask out loud, saves me time, and gives me that “okay, I’ve got this” feeling, even when I really don’t.

If you’re wondering whether AI could be useful in your life, the answer is: it probably already is. And if not? You’re missing out.
